Visitors to the Little Falls Public Library may have noticed the return of a familiar face. Kristin Blumberg has returned to the Library in a new capacity, Director. Kristin originally began working at the Library as a page when she was in high school. Over the years, she has served in various capacities on the library staff while earning both her
bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Kristin left Little Falls for two years, working at the Montclair Public Library. When she heard that there was an opening for a new Library Director in Little Falls, Kristin was eager to return. She missed the friendliness of Little Falls Public Library and the feel of working in a smaller, local library.
A library’s needs are always evolving. Director Blumberg has been reviewing the Library’s collections and has plans to improve the travel section and CD collection. She is presently reviewing the Library’s security protocols and procedures with an eye toward improving safety and security. Under her direction, the staff has been increasing the Library’s social media presence on Facebook and Twitter. A monthly calendar of events is now available at the front desk.
Kristin is a firm believer in a Library being an important part of a community. She is looking forward to expanding community outreach and being involved in local events. The Library has been sponsoring Family Fun Night with Little Falls Biz for several years and has participated in the Block Party, Fall Festival, and Passaic County Art Walk. The Library has acquired a tablet and software so that residents will be able to sign up for library cards at events outside of the Library. She is hopeful that the Library will be able to participate in other community events both in the Library as well as in town.
