“How to Get Your Book Published” – Discussion at Cedar Grove Library, June 13

Cedar Grove Library will present “How to Get Your Book Published,” an information session featuring author and editor Lisa Romeo. The free event will be held on Thurs. evening, June 13, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Publishing today offers many options, including traditional publishing, self-publishing, and hybrid publishing. The info session will explain the differences and suggest ways writers can decide which to pursue. It will also cover whether or not to seek an agent, what materials an author must have ready before moving forward, small publishers and university presses versus major publishing houses, and more.

“The modern publishing landscape is both exciting and also confusing. Before seeking publication, it’s helpful to know the ropes first,” Ms. Romeo says. “You can spend years going down dead ends. I want to help future authors avoid pitfalls.”

Additional items on the agenda for the talk include: whether you need to write the whole book first; avoiding scams; making yourself attractive to a publisher or agent. There will be time for questions.
